Andrew Lyons created these gorgeous illustrations for the packaging for Strong, a new line of nutrient supplements. The textures and subtle color gradations in each piece are particularly beautiful.
Andrew was commissioned by Pearlfisher, who developed the brand, to illustrate a different bird for each product, and each bird was chosen to specifically represent the product attributes. For example, an owl was illustrated to represent brain food, and a Puffin for Omega 3 oil. Get a closer look at the details right here.

Chicago-based designer Buddy Boor recently sent over this excellent project with a great look and a great message, the “Design Is” newsprint, an educational newspaper for Chicago high school students:
Through the AIGA Chicago Mentor Program, a group of Chicago based designers and researchers collaborated to design a newsprint to inspire and educate Chicago high schools students about the power, potential and possibilities of design. We designed a newsprint piece where we illustrated and visualized 11 words that we felt best communicated and exemplified the meaning of design. The “Design Is” newsprint was distributed at the 2013 Chicago Design Youth Forum hosted by Project Osmosis.

I’m loving these gorgeously hand-painted saws that were created by Vault49, a NYC-based “artistic collaboration, a playground, and a creative incubator for innovative design projects.” The saws are part of an artistic project called (Sub)prime Cuts:
Vault49 is doing our bit for the Big Bailout. Budgets are being butchered all around the world, and even worse it’s been done in such bad taste. These finely crafted financial tools should trim the fat nicely. Sink your teeth into these viciously hand-crafted beauties.
