Pilot’s Angry Orchard Packaging Design

For the month of August, a series of guests will be filling in on DWL with daily posts. Today’s posts come to you from Boston-based designer Ben Whitla. For more from Ben, be sure to follow him on Twitter and Dribbble

The team over at Pilot has been kind enough to give me a glimpse into the packaging and process for the new premium Angry Orchard ciders by Boston Beer Company. They’ve created two distinct looks for the two varieties  available in the high end bottles.

The artwork also includes a custom drawn headline typeface with a personality that mirrors the illustrations perfectly.

This is one talented group — with illustration, digital painting and design all under one roof, there isn’t too much they can’t do. Full disclosure, I’m a former employee and forever a fanboy.

These are awesome. I really like that you included the sketches. Nice work Pilot.
