Design Work Life: Cataloging Inspiration Daily

South Africa based Studio Botes recently com­pleted this sophis­ti­cated iden­tity and col­lat­eral design for Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm, which is also located in South Africa. Here’s some notes from Brandt that explains the ratio­nale behind some of the design details:

The hum­ble horse shoe served as inspi­ra­tion for the “C” of Cavalli. 
Cavalli breeds American Saddlebred horses renowned as the ulti­mate show horse and loved for their ele­gance and grace.
The anatomy of the horse hoof also inspired a sub­tle detail that was incor­po­rated into the sta­tionery via die-cut.
 The repeat pat­terns of the vine­yards and pad­docks inspired the pat­tern used as a sec­ondary design detail.
