All the Buildings in New York

I’m shocked it took me so long to discover All the Buildings in New York, a project by James Gulliver Hancock where he — you guessed it — will attempt to draw all the buildings in New York in one year. The project started way back in April of 2010 when the artist moved to New York from Australia. Since then he has amassed quite the collection of architectural works of art, including the five pieces shown below, which were actually created as a collaboration with The Design Files during a guest blog appearance.

And lucky for us, any piece featured on the blog can be made into a print in various sizes, and I’m seriously considering adding this series to my collection (especially the Queens one, which holds a special place in my heart). I definitely got a late start, but I am really excited to see how the rest of this project unfolds.

All buildings in New York in a year? The thought is giving me a panic attack just thinking about it. Especially after looking at how finished each of the pieces are. Astounding.
