Design Work Life: Cataloging Inspiration Daily

I’m a big fan of Studio on Fire’s annual let­ter­press cal­en­dar. I’ve owned a cou­ple of the past edi­tions, and even had the priv­elege of work­ing on some of the plates back when I worked at Boxcar Press. Each year they choose a theme, a color palette, and five artists to col­lab­o­rate with, result­ing in a unique yet cohe­sive set of designs. And this year the cho­sen theme is “Letter Form Genus”, which means the designs fea­ture lots of type and hand-lettering.
