As previously mentioned, this week I’ve taken off to the Outer Banks for a much-needed vacation. And lucky for me, I’ve got some great blogger friends who agreed to guest post while I’m gone. The last blogger you’ll be hearing from is Dylan of OK Great.

I’m very recently engaged and my fiancé and I have been spending most of our free time caught in the typhoon that is wedding planning. The initial stage, we’ve found, mostly consists of making phone call after phone call. So, we were both super excited when we got the chance to take a break from the grind to make our first mood boards for the wedding.

Kristy and I got engaged while on vacation at an old family home in Downeast Maine, so we decided to forgoe the normal route and use the colors we found on the rocky shores and at the lobster pounds as our inspiration. These are some of our favorites. You just can’t beat summertime in northern Maine.

I wanted to finish up with something sweet, personal and hopefully useful. Maybe this’ll inspire you to make your own summertime palette!
I hope everyone enjoyed the posts; it’s been fun! Keep reading Design Work Life and come visit me at OK Great sometime!

I have a serious aversion to floor lamps-don’t ask me why, they just bother me. So, I’m always on thhunt for an interesting table lamp. One of our readers from Rezon in Tokyo sent in some shots of a new lamp series they’ve released and mmm, mmm, I’m into it.

The lamps are painted with one image on the interior and a different image on the exterior. When the lamp is turned off, only the exterior image is visible. Flip the switch and, surprise, the exterior + interior images combine to reveal each lamp’s glowing secret.

Little, geometric lamps and secrets? Yes, Please.

Hello! My name is Dylan and I’m part of the OK Great crew. I’m a recent transplant to middle-of-nowhere in NC and I spend 9 – 5 at Flywheel Design in Durham. Design Work Life has been an everyday read for a long time now, so when Courtney asked me to guest for a day, I jumped at the chance! Let’s get to it…
Meet Miguel Arias a Cuban + Puerto Rican illustrator living and working in San Fransisco.

There’s a clear danger present in a lot of the dreamy, otherwordly illustration work that’s been peppering the internet lately, and that’s crossing the line between being childlike and, well, childish. Miguel masterfully tiptoes just barely on the right side of the line and I think the result is that much more charming.
Miguel, you’re awesome.
