designboom has a great article up about the design and history of money, a subject I’ve always found pretty fascinating. The article also brought me to this site which, which while not extremely easy to navigate, holds a huge collection of currency from all over the world.

I saved my Italian Lira from my trip to Italy back in 2001. It’s just to beautiful to trade back in for the American currency.
