Design Work Life: Cataloging Inspiration Daily

I real­ize that’s a bold state­ment to make; and I’m sure quite a few peo­ple wouldn’t agree with me. But ever since I read about Scrap on design*sponge, I was dying to get there. And I wasn’t disappointed.

A ware­house of ran­dom items includ­ing sta­tionery, envelopes, fab­ric, old board games, glass bot­tles, etc.; I could have spent hours in there. If only I didn’t need to limit my pur­chases to things I could carry on the plane… I grav­i­tated towards the fab­ric sec­tions, where you could fill a whole bag of scraps for just $5! There was a huge mix of sam­ples as you can see from the pile I took home. I got a cou­ple of pretty large sam­ples (well over a yard) as well as a bunch of small leather swatches. Not sure what I’m going to do with all of it yet; but I can’t wait to fig­ure it out.

Next time you’re in the area make sure to stop by. If I didn’t live on the oppo­site side of the coun­try I would be there every weekend.
