Last night I almost got into the Sex and the City première at Radio City Music Hall. Almost. By the time they told us they were out of seats I was probably only 50 people away from the theater door, of course. The show was way oversold — by the thousands — which caused quite an uproar. People had traveled from all over, paid exorbitant amounts of money for tickets (one person we met in line paid $1500, which was clearly insane), and gotten completely decked out in formal wear all to be turned away. I was not one of them — the tickets clearly said first come, first served — so I wasn’t quite as disappointed. Although I agree that it is pretty ridiculous that they oversold the show by that many tickets. Seems completely unnecessary.
